Melusine (or Melusina) is a figure of European legends and folklore, a feminine spirit of fresh waters in sacred springs and rivers.

Vision Originality Technique

This is remarkable. When I saw the thumbnail for this piece. I honestly thought it was an oil painting! The colors are so vivid and lifelike.
Vision: I'm not familiar with the mythical spirit this painting depicts, but it definitely conveys a mystical, Old World vibe.
Originality: It's a gorgeous depiction of a lesser known fantasy creature. Fantastical without indulging into the fantasy cliches most artists draw from.
Technique: Like I said, it greatly resembles a classical oil painting. The nudity is tasteful, which an incredibly rare thing on this website, and even more rarely, her figure is realistic and naturalistic looking. Nobody could look at this and say that this character is sexualized.
Impact: Instantly noticeable for it's lush and rustic colors. A valuable addition to the Deviantart roster.
